Stephen Jones Cropped

Stephen Jones

Stephen is a highly experienced trade finance practitioner with over 40 years banking and trade finance expertise. He has held senior positions in Lloyds Bank, NatWest and RBS, working in operations (letters of credit, collections, payments, foreign exchange, negotiations and trade finance), international trade finance sales (client management and new client origination) and risk management.

Stephen was Regional Head of International Trade for several years at NatWest and RBS. During this time Stephen overviewed and structured his team’s trade finance applications prior to submission to the credit department achieving a 97% credit sanction success rate over a 4 year period.

Stephen left banking in November 2009 to set up his own trade finance consultancy and training business. Since inception, he has been fully engaged helping companies and banks to structure trade finance deals which meet the client’s needs and allow the banks greater control, risk mitigation, transparency and thus increased credit appetite to lend.

Stephen also handles letters of credit and other trade finance related transactions for corporate clients. This enables him to provide a very practical and up to date insight to delegates. He regularly lectures to banks and organisations around the world on trade finance, receivables finance, supply chain finance, risk management, AML and sanctions compliance.
