Making Tax Digital

This is HMRC’s most important change in the administration of personal and business tax for forty years and starts to take effect from 2019.

Making the Most of Management Information

This course focuses on how to create useful information and present that information with clarity.

The objective is to ensure delegates are aware of how to minimise the cost and time spent by corporations on churning out reams of meaningless data and spreadsheets and, on completion, will be better placed to ensure meaningful information flows throughout their organisation. 

Information and data will be reviewed in future in a different way, as information to be analysed and engaged with, that acts as an early warning system, highlighting key issues and aiding decision making.

Management Essentials Day 1 – Introduction to Management

There are various skills that managers from all disciplines of a business require if they are to be successful in their management position. You are no longer responsible for just your own workload but the management of a team. Skills such as prioritisation and delegation are now vital along with ensuring that your team are motivated and feel developed by the feedback that you provide them with. This participative course will help managers understand some of the key characteristics of an effective manager whilst introducing participants to relevant management theory. The interactive components will allow participants to apply the skills they have learned to real-world scenarios whilst being observed, coached and provided with feedback from the session facilitator. This course is a necessity for those who are new to management or those who would benefit from a refresher.

This course will enable participants to

  • have an in-depth understanding of the key skills and disciplines required in being an effective manager
  • manage their own workload and priorities effectively
  • understand the process of effective delegation and feedback
  • deal with difficult characters more effectively

It is recommended that participants attend both days of this programme but this is not compulsory. 

Management Essentials Day 2 – Communicating Effectively

Communication evolves over time. In today’s busy working environment, time is of the essence and we are frequently faced with little time to communicate our message. Why are some people more effective at communication than others? This participative course is a necessity for anyone who would like to understand the key to effective communication at work. The session will be highly interactive and will focus on both verbal and non-verbal communication whilst ensuring that participants understand the basis of building rapport will colleagues and clients/ customers.

The interactive components will allow participants to apply the skills they have learned to real-world scenarios whilst being observed, coached and provided with feedback from the session facilitator.

This course will enable participants to

  • overcome the day-to-day barriers to communication at work
  • use effective communication to build relationships with colleagues and clients
  • enhance their confidence and capabilities at getting their message across with impact in a variety of situations

Managing Across Cultures

Cultural awareness is more than just a management phrase. It goes to the heart of our ability to become aware of our cultural values, beliefs and perceptions.

This course will explore effective practical strategies and everyday tips to help the manager far from home or their comfort zone not only to survive but also to thrive and enjoy the experience.  The trainer will work with delegates to create scenarios that reflect the issues faced by them; appropriate situations generate active engagement.

Managing My Charity’s Finances

This course is designed to give trustees and those with responsibilities for charities a good understanding of what finance based information is needed to comply with financial management obligations relating to charities, under charity law and Company law where applicable.

When preparing, presenting and using finance based information it is important to know the legal and regulatory requirements as required by the Charities Commission and under the charities’ SORP, as well as what good practice policies exist in the not-for-profit sector. Concepts like full-cost recovery, project budgets, donor reporting, public benefit reporting will be covered in this introductory session.

Managing People Performance

Getting the best out of your team members can be one of the most challenging aspects of management. By setting objectives, understanding the fundamentals of coaching and being able to review performance with effective feedback you will be able to develop your team effectively. This managing peoples performance training course will help you achieve this through a clearer appreciation of what your people need to perform at their best and how you can help them do this. You will also have to be able to spot opportunities and devote time to act as a coach and mentor to unlock the potential of your team members.

Maximising Business Tax Reliefs and Opportunities

This course aims to provide delegates with a summary of the main tax reliefs on costs and investments incurred on a business start-up, or which arise when an existing company commences a new business activity, as well as reviewing the main business tax reliefs available to existing businesses.
