ALAN BUCKETT BA, AIIT Alan started his career working for HM Customs & Excise before moving into practice. Alan then spent the next 18 years working in the VAT departments for various large accountancy firms at partner level, before moving into commerce where he worked for Barclays Bank as the Deputy Taxation Director heading up the in-house VAT compliance and planning team. Alan is the author of 3 books (VAT Enforcement and Appeals, VAT in the European Community and the first and second editions of VAT on Construction, Land and Property) and has been a major contributor to numerous associations and working groups. Alan now splits his time between his role as part-time Head of VAT Services at Day, Smith & Hunter and as Managing Director of his own consultancy ‘Alan Buckett Associates’ and through this Alan lectures regularly for Quorum Training on VAT issues.
