COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course is designed to give local authorities and public sector organisations a head start on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which will become the required reporting regime for local authorities from 2011. It will cover conversion issues and also a summary of the core International Standards that are currently in force and relevant to the public sector.

Specifically the course will cover:
- First time adoption of IFRS
- Presentation of financial statements under IFRS
- Income statement standards
- Employee costs
- Accounting for non current assets
- Accounting for liabilities
- Cash flow statements
- PFI contracts
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is primarily aimed at public sector accountants who will be preparing financial statements under IFRS. It will also be of interest to public sector accountants who want to keep up to date with financial reporting as part of their CPD requirements.
