COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course looks at good practice in relation to risk management for housing associations. It will cover some of the key elements of theory behind risk management, some examples of processes, documentation and the impact of risk management approaches together with some suggestions on how to refresh and enhance risk management within your Association


COURSE CONTENT


Specifically, the course will cover the following:


  • Risk management theory; why it is important for all organisations

  • A common structure for the documentation of risk management
  • Some examples of processes that Associations have followed, and what appears to work well and not work well

  • Some ideas on how risk management might be made more effective within the HA sector, both reducing time and increasing focus

Jackie Oakes has had significant experience in the RP sector at a variety of levels including stock transfer organisations. She co-ordinates and manages the audits of Hastoe Housing Association, Phoenix Community Housing and Raven Housing Trust. Jackie has also assisted a number of our RP clients with the transition to component accounting. In addition to her work with the RP sector Jackie also manages a number of our corporate clients, for example Howard de Walden Estates which is known for its regeneration of the Marylebone area of London. Jackie is actively involved in planning and delivering our internal training and external seminar programme.
